Access/Correction Request Freedom of Information Form
The Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) gives individuals the right to access municipal records while protecting personal information.
What You Can Access Online:
- Council minutes and agendas
- Financial reports and public records
- By-Laws and permits (some may already be available online)
How to Submit a Formal FOI Request:
- Complete the FOI Request Form
- Include a $5.00 administration fee
- Provide as much detail as possible
- Submit by mail or email to the Clerk’s Office:

Requests are typically processed within 30 days. Additional fees may apply for research time, copying, or file preparation.
FOI Exemptions and Appeals
Some records may be restricted or withheld if they contain:
- Personal or confidential information
- Legal or solicitor-client privileged information
- Information that could compromise safety or security
If your request is denied, you may appeal to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC) within 30 days of the decision.

Building Permits
Augusta Township’s Building Department regulates and enforces the Ontario Building Code (OBC). Some general information on requirements of the Ontario Building Code can be found here: OBOA Standard Details
Building Permit Applications:
Burn Permits
An Open Air Burn Permit must be applied for annually online or from the Municipal Office.

Civic Number Application
Civic numbers are essential for ensuring that Emergency Services, delivery vehicles, and utilities can find your property quickly.
- New Civic Numbers:
If your property does not yet have a civic number sign, complete a Civic Number Application and submit it to the Township Office with a $125 fee. - Replacements:
If your 9-1-1 sign or post is damaged, lost, or stolen:

Replacement signs cost $30 each

Replacement posts cost $30 each
Use the same 9-1-1 Application form to request replacements.

Farm & Vacant Land Entrances:
The Township encourages agricultural landowners to have civic numbers for vacant field entrances. The fee for these signs is $60.

Complaint Form
Complaints may be submitted in one of the following ways:
- In person: Visit the Township Office and complete a By-Law Complaint Form, available at the reception desk.
- By phone: Call 613-925-4231 ext. 206. Please note that the complainant must provide their name, phone number, and address when submitting a complaint by phone.
- Online: Submit your concern using the online Complaint Form.
Delegation Request
Residents and organizations may request to appear as a delegation at a Council meeting. To do so, please follow the protocol found on the webpage Delegations to Council.
Dog / Kennel Licences
Apply for a Dog License Online
Please note: (Additional $3 processing fee applies)
Apply for a Kennel License to operate a kennel within the Township. Licenses must be renewed annually in accordance with municipal regulations.
Email Billing Sign Up Form
You can now sign up to receive your tax bills by email instead of regular mail, and the process is quick and easy through our online sign-up form.
To opt in for email billing, simply complete the Email Billing Sign Up Form.
Alternatively, you can email tax@augusta.ca with the following details:

Please note: Paper and email bills are issued simultaneously. If you are signed up for e-billing, please check your spam or junk folder to ensure your bill is not being misdirected. Adding our email address to your safe sender list can help prevent this issue.
Entranceway Application Form
All new entrances (driveways) that connect to Township roads must be approved before installation. This ensures the entrance is properly located and designed for safe access and adequate drainage.
- Application & Fee:
Complete an Entranceway Application Form and submit it to the Township Office with a $125 permit fee. Payment can be made by cash, cheque, or debit. - Installation:
Entrances must meet Township standards for width, slope, and sightlines. A properly sized culvert is required to maintain ditch drainage. - County Roads:
If your entrance connects to a County Road, approval is required from the United Counties of Leeds & Grenville Roads Department before a building permit can be issued. Their Entranceway Application is available on the County website. - Replacement & Maintenance:
Once installed, the Township is responsible for the maintenance or replacement of the culvert. Please contact the Public Works Department with any concerns.

Reports
A lottery report must be completed for lottery licenses issued for previous events before a new license can be issued.
Marriage Licences and Civil Marriage Ceremonies
To apply for a marriage licence, ensure both parties meet the eligibility requirements below and then proceed to the online application form.
Please note that once the application has been submitted, no changes can be made, review all details carefully before submitting.
Milestone Certificate Request
If you or a loved one is celebrating a milestone birthday, wedding anniversary, or significant organizational anniversary, Mayor Shaver and Members of Council are delighted to offer congratulatory certificates to help mark these special occasions.
To request a certificate to be presented by the Mayor and/or a Member of Council, please complete the online Request for Milestone Certificate Form.
Noise By-Law Exemption Application
The Township of Augusta is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and enjoyable community for everyone. The Noise By-Law 3704-2024 helps balance everyday activities with the right of residents to enjoy peace and quiet in their homes.
Applying for a Noise Exemption
Important Information:
- Applications must be submitted at least 45 days before the event
- A separate application is required for each event
- Exemptions for private or community events may only extend to:

1:00 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Statutory Holidays

- A $25 non-refundable fee applies per application
- Exemptions may be approved, denied, or approved with conditions

All fees can be paid by cash, debit, email transfer (tax@augusta.ca) or cheque, and should be made payable to The Corporation of the Township of Augusta.

Online Applications:
Pre-Authorized Payment Plan
Two convenient options are available
- Monthly: Payments are withdrawn on the 15th of each month.
- Installments: Payments are withdrawn on regular tax due dates (March and September).
To enroll:
- Complete the Pre-Authorized Payment Plan Application.
- Include a VOID cheque.
- Submit by email to tax@augusta.ca or bring it to the Township Office.
Short-Term Rental Applications
The Township of Augusta’s Short-Term Rental (STR) Licensing requires all eligible short-term rentals to be licensed prior to operating. Licences are valid for one year and must be renewed annually.
A short-term rental licence fee of $500 applies to each property.
Operating a short-term rental without a valid licence may result in fines of $900 per day, per offence.
Tax Adjustment Application
Apply for a property tax adjustment or cancellation due to reasons such as a change in property status, demolition, damage, or other circumstances permitted under Section 357 of the Municipal Act.
