A BY-LAW TO APPOINT A FIRE CHIEF
FOR THE TOWNSHIP OF AUGUSTA
WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Augusta has established a
fire department for fire protection and prevention services within the limits of the
Township of Augusta;
And Whereas the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, R.S.O. 1997, Chapter 4,
subsection 6(1) requires municipalities to appoint a fire chief for its fire department;
And Whereas the Township’s fire chief has retired and Council deems it is expedient to
appoint a new fire chief to replace him.
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE TOWNSHIP OF AUGUSTA ENACTS AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That Robert Bowman is hereby appointed as Fire Chief for the Township of
Augusta effective January 1, 2011.
2. That Robert Bowman shall be responsible for the overall management and
supervision of the Township’s fire department and its resources, and the duties as
established in the Fire Prevention and Protection Act, R.S.O. 1997, Chapter 4, and
as it may be amended from time to time.
3. That By-law Number 2448 be and is hereby repealed.
