2889-2011 Liquor Consumption Policy (Parks & Recreation)
BEING A BY-LAW TO IMPLEMENT A POLICY TO GOVERN THE CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL WITHIN MUNICIPAL PARKS AND RECREATIONAL CENTERS FOR THE TOWNSHIP OF AUGUSTA

THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF AUGUSTA
BY-LAW NUMBER 2889
BEING a By-law to implement a policy to govern the consumption of alcohol within municipal parks and
recreational centers for the Township of Augusta:
WHEREAS the Municipal Act c.25 S.O. 2001 section 224 (b) allows for the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Augusta to develop and evaluate policies and programs of the Municipality
AND WHEREAS the Province of Ontario has implemented changes to the Liquor Law for the Province to allow people to walk around freely with drinks but has enabled municipalities to customize events to their needs;
AND WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Augusta deems it necessary to
maintain a safe environment for attendees at festivals and special events licensed to serve liquor at municipally owned parks and recreational centers;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Augusta enacts as follows:
1. That all special events and festivals licensed to serve liquor at municipally owned parks and
recreational centers are hereby required to continue to serve liquor only in specially designated areas, demarked with a fence or similar structures with a controlled entrance and exit.
2. That all special events and festivals licenses to serve liquor at municipally owned parks and
recreational centers shall continue to provide security and surveillance of such events.
3. That all municipal organizations be informed of this By-Law and that all special events and festivals licensed to serve liquor at municipally owned parks and recreational centers continue to present their events with the same barriers and controls as required by the Liquor License Board before the June 1, 2011 enactment of the change to the liquor laws.
