BY- LAW NUMBER 2912
A BY-LAW TO PROHIBIT THE DISCARDING OF
REFUSE ON PUBLIC OR PRIVATE PROPERTY UNLESS PERMITTED
BY STATUTE, REGULATION OR BY-LAW
WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Augusta owns a Waste
Disposal Site in Part of Lot 32, Conc. 8, and a Transfer Station located in Part of Lot 10,
Concession 3, Township of Augusta operated under regulations of the Environmental
Protection Act;
AND WHEREAS Section 127 (c) of the Municipal Act SO. 2001, c. 25, prohibits the
depositing of refuse or debris on land without the consent of the owner or occupant of the
land;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Township of Augusta enacts as follows:
1. No person shall throw, place, deposit, dump or dispose of any refuse, debris,
garbage or domestic or industrial waste of any kind not permitted by statute by
regulation on any property in the Township of Augusta , except in the Waste
Disposal Site or the Transfer Station owned by the Corporation of the Township
of Augusta as regulated by By-law;
2. Any person who jeopardizes the health or safety of the inhabitants of the
municipality or creates a public nuisance in violation of the provisions of this by
law shall be liable to a fine up to $5,000.00 per occurrence, maximum penalty.
3. The cost of any cleanup incurred by the municipality for such an offence will be
paid directly to the Township of Augusta by the offender.
By-law 2691 is hereby repealed.
