THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF AUGUSTA
BY-LAW NUMBER 3540-2021
BEING A BY-LAW TO APPOINT AN INTERIM TREASURER
WHEREAS Section 286(1) of the Municipal Act 5.0.2001 c.25, as amended, the Council
of every municipality shall appoint a Treasurer;
AND WHEREAS the current Treasurer will be retiring effective October 31, 2021;
AND WHEREAS the Council of the Township of Augusta wishes to engage the services
of Mark McDonald as Interim Treasurer:
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Augusta hereby
enacts as follows that:
1. THAT Mark McDonald is hereby appointed Interim Treasurer for the Corporation of
the Township of Augusta.
2. THAT the CAO on behalf of Council is authorized to execute an agreement with
Mark McDonald for a period of six months from the effective date of this by-law for
the position of Interim Treasurer at a compensation rate mutually agreed upon by
the Corporation and the incumbent.
3. THAT the duties of the Interim Treasurer shall be as per Section 286 of the
Municipal Act 2001 as amended and such other duties as may be assigned by
Council.
4. THAT Council authorize, if both parties are desirous, that the CAO negotiate with
the incumbent to extend the contract upon the expiration of this By-law.
5. THAT upon the effective date of this by-law, all previous appointments By-laws and
employment contracts for the position of Treasurer shall be null and void and
6. THAT this By-law shall come into force and effect November 1, 2021
