BEING A BY-LAW TO RESTRICT THE RATE OF SPEED FOR MOTOR VEHICLES
ON A ROAD PORTION WITHIN THE MUNICIPALITY
WHEREAS Section 27(1) of the municipal Act SO. 2001 as amended authorizes
municipalities to pass by-law in respect of a road under its jurisdiction.
WHEREAS the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.D. 1990, Chapter H.8 Section 128(2) as
amended authorizes the Municipal Council of a Township to prescribe a lower rate of
speed for motor vehicles on a road or a portion of road under its jurisdiction;
AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient by Council to restrict the speed of motor
vehicles on certain roads in the Corporation of the Township of Augusta;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Augusta enacts
as follows:
1. When any road or portion of road set out below is marked in compliance with the
regulations under the Highway Traffic Act, the maximum rate of speed thereon
shall be 70 kilometers per hour for motorized vehicles:
Charleville Road FROM 1.7 km North of CR 26 TO 2 km North of CR 26
Algonquin Road FROM 0.7 km East of CR15 TO 1.2 km East of CR15
Algonquin Road FROM 0.8km West of CR15 TO 1.1 km West of CR 15
6th Concession Road FROM Charleville Road TO Glenmore Road
Branch Road FROM 0.3 km East of CR 15 TO 0.6 km East of CR 15
2. When any road or portion of road set out below is marked in compliance with the
regulations under the Highway Traffic Act, the maximum rate of speed thereon
shall be 60 kilometers per hour for motorized vehicles:

3. When any road or portion of road set out below is marked in compliance with the
regulations under the Highway Traffic Act, the maximum rate of speed thereon
shall be 50 kilometers per hour for motorized vehicles:

Carpenter Road FROM Algonquin Road TO Augusta/Elizabethtown Town Line
Maple Ave FROM County Road 18 TO East End (Dead End)
Barton Road FROM County Road 18 TO East End (Dead End)
Hillbrook Road FROM Maple Avenue TO 4 Concession Road
Charleville Road FROM County Road 28 TO 1 km North of CR 26
McCully Road FROM North Skakum Road TO County Road 18
Algonquin Road FROM County Road 15 TO 0.5 km East of CR 15

4. When any road or portion of road set out below is marked in compliance with the
regulations under the Highway Traffic Act, the maximum rate of speed thereon
shall be 40 kilometers per hour for motorized vehicles:
Algonquin Road FROM Charleville Road TO 1.1 km West of Charleville Road
5. The penalties provided in subsection 128(14) of the Highway Traffic Act shall
apply to offences against this By-Law.
6. That this By-Law shall be effective from the date and time of the posting of the
prescribed signs pursuant to Regulation 615 under The Highway Traffic Act,
R.S.O. 1990, Chapter H.8 as amended.
