South Nation Conservation – Clean Water Program
The Clean Water Program provides cost-share grants to help landowners complete projects that protect water quality. Funding ranges from $1,000 to $8,000, depending on the project type.
Residents within the South Nation Conservation jurisdiction (excluding the City of Ottawa) can apply year-round by contacting SNC at 1-877-984-2948 or lhenderson@nation.on.ca. Applicants are encouraged to apply early, as funding is limited.
Eligible projects include:
- Septic system upgrades
- Well decommissioning
- Erosion control
- Livestock fencing and watercourse protection
- Fuel, fertilizer, and manure storage improvements
- Cover crops and buffer planting

Rideau Valley Conservation – Rural Clean Water Grants
Rideau Valley Conservation – Rural Clean Water Grants
The Rideau Valley Rural Clean Water Program offers grants of up to $15,000 to support rural and on-farm projects that protect water quality within the Rideau River watershed (outside the City of Ottawa).
Residents must apply before starting their project. Technical assistance is available to help with planning and design. Funding is provided after project completion.
Eligible projects include:
- Erosion control and shoreline stabilization
- Well upgrades, replacements, or decommissioning
- Septic system repairs
- Livestock fencing and alternative watering
- Buffer planting, cover crops, or windbreaks
- Wetland or forest management plans
Applications are due May 1 each year.

Government of Canada - Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Program
The program offers eligible homeowners who currently heat their homes with oil an upfront grant of up to $10,000 (and potentially up to $15,000 with additional provincial/territorial support) to switch to an energy-efficient electric heat pump.
Key details
- Home must be heated with oil, and you must be the homeowner and primary resident. Income must be at or below the after-tax median household income.
- Eligible costs include the purchase and installation of the heat pump, necessary electrical/mechanical upgrades, oil-tank removal (where applicable), and converting other oil-using systems like a water heater.
- Your home must be connected to the integrated electricity grid; homes in remote locations without grid access are not eligible.
- The program can be combined with other federal, provincial/territorial, or utility-based support programs.
Application: Residents can apply directly through the Natural Resources Canada program once they meet eligibility criteria.
Save on Energy – Energy Affordability Program
The Energy Affordability Program offers free energy-saving upgrades to eligible Ontario residents, including homeowners, renters, and social housing tenants. Delivered by the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), the program aims to help participants reduce electricity costs and enhance home comfort.
Key Features:
- Comprehensive Support: Includes a free in-home energy assessment by a trained expert, followed by the installation of energy-efficient upgrades such as LED bulbs, smart thermostats, and weatherproofing.
- Energy Saving Kits: For those who may not qualify for in-home assessments, customized kits are provided for self-installation.
- Cold Climate Air Source Heat Pumps: Eligible households with oil or electric heating may receive a high-efficiency heat pump at no cost, potentially reducing heating costs by up to 50%.
- No Cost to Participants: All approved assessments and installations are fully funded; there are no charges or hidden fees.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be responsible for paying the electricity bill.
- Income-based eligibility or receipt of a qualifying assistance benefit.
- Residents of social housing may also qualify.
