It’s a splendid moon-filled night in Coley’s Point, Newfoundland in 1926. Jacob Mercer returns home, when he hears his sweetheart Mary Snow is engaged to another man. Under a starry sky in August, these two young people must find their way through hurt and pride to rediscover the love they once had.
David French’s Salt-Water Moon has become a Canadian classic and has won the 1985 Canadian Authors Association Literary Award for Drama, the Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding New Play, and the Hollywood Drama-Logue Critics’ Award,
“This is a lovely play, lovingly written…We’ve not met the likes of Mary and Jacob on any stage in many a long day. You’ll not soon forget them.”
-Hollywood Drama-Logue
“Nights like this brings it all back… The smell of honeysuckle on the road. The new moon that night like a smile over the Birch Hills. A smile that became a grin. Remember that?”–Jacob Mercer (Salt-Water Moon)
