Cedar Street Park – Maitland
Located at 16A Cedar Street in the Maitland subdivision, this neighbourhood park features a children’s play structure and a basketball court, making it a great spot for families and youth.

Along County Road 2 in Maitland, there is a designated pull-off area where visitors can park and enjoy scenic views of the beautiful St. Lawrence River.

Mill Run Conservation Area
Owned and operated by the South Nation Conservation Authority, Mill Run Conservation Area is located at 5659 McCrea Road. It offers opportunities for fishing, kayaking, and canoeing on the scenic South Nation River.

Are you looking for something different? The Rothesay Dive Site offers a rare and fascinating experience beneath the surface of the St. Lawrence River, featuring the remains of an 1867 steamship.

A favorite destination for experienced divers and history enthusiasts alike, the site provides a captivating glimpse into the region’s rich marine past.

In 1967, to celebrate Canada’s Centennial of Confederation, most of the Township’s Recreation Committees received funding to enhance their facilities — a lasting legacy of community pride and growth. Today, you can still see the beautiful stone memorials commemorating this milestone in Maynard, Roebuck, Maitland, and Domville, serving as a reminder of our shared history and the spirit of unity that continues to bring us together.

Augusta Township offers a variety of spaces and services to support community life. From library programs and the Recreation Lending Library to hall rentals and long-term planning we are building vibrant, connected communities. Parks, recreation and cultural services are essential components of a vibrant and engaged community.  They significantly contribute to quality of life by enhancing relationships, promoting a sense of belonging, providing opportunities to participate in enjoyable activities, promoting fitness and health, developing the local economy, and protecting the environment for both present and future generations.

Recreation Equipment Lending Program

Thanks to funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Augusta Township has partnered with the Augusta Township Public Library to offer free recreational and sports equipment rentals to Township residents.

Residents with a valid library card can borrow a wide variety of seasonal equipment—perfect for enjoying active living year-round.

  • Equipment loans are free of charge to all Augusta Township residents with a valid library card.

  • A liability release form must be signed for each rental.

  • A refundable deposit is required for items valued at $50 or more.

  • Items are loaned for a 3-day borrowing period.

  • For larger items, please contact the Library at least 24 hours in advance to arrange pickup.

The Maynard Recreation Committee is currently seeking dedicated volunteers to support upcoming community programs and events. The committee is looking for help in the following areas:

  • General Volunteer Support
