Recycling

Blue Box Recycling Program: Transition

Starting June 1st, 2025, Augusta Township started implementing the new Blue Box Program. The Blue Boxes were managed by Circular Materials. Circular Materials is a national not-for-profit and was the administrator of the common collection system in Ontario. Circular Materials had been hired by Ontario to run this transition. On June 1st, 2025, Augusta Township went down to two streams of recycling: Container recyclables and Fiber recyclables.

Beginning January 1st, 2026, Augusta Township will begin fully implementing the new framework and Emterra became the new contracting recycling collector as contracted by Circular Materials.

Illegal Dumping & Littering

Waste Diversion & Community Impact

Recycling and composting help reduce waste at our Transfer Stations and protect the environment. By improving our waste diversion rates, Augusta becomes eligible for additional funding from Circular Materials  funds that support recycling infrastructure and free up taxpayer dollars for other local priorities.

Zero Tolerance Policy

As outlined in By-Law 3259-2016, the Township of Augusta maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward harassment or abuse of its employees—this includes staff at the Transfer Stations.

Unacceptable Behaviours Include:

  • Physical threats or intimidation
  • Verbal or written abuse
  • Property destruction
  • Sexual harassment or assault

Violations may result in denied service and legal consequences.

Thank you for continuing to help keep Augusta Clean & Green!
