Maynard Recreation Centre

The Maynard Recreation Association was established in 1965 to operate “an athletic field and outdoor rink.”  Since then, the volunteer‑run Association has expanded the site to include a community hall, a baseball diamond with lights, and soccer fields.

Thanks to funding from the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), the Association recently created a multifunctional, year‑round recreation space. This project converted outdated tennis/ball hockey courts into new tennis and pickleball courts and
added a new outdoor ice/ball hockey rink.

Update: The recreation centre building is currently not available for rental due to required renovations. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The Township of Augusta is exploring avenues to support funding opportunities for a new community building that will better serve residents and meet the evolving needs of our community.

Tennis and Pickleball Courts

Thanks to FedDev Ontario funding, the former tennis/ball hockey
courts were fully revitalized and expanded into a modern
multi‑sport court area. The upgraded space now includes:

  • Multiple tennis and pickleball courts designed for seasonal use
  • New playing surfaces that improve traction, safety, and accessibility
  • Updated fencing and court layout to support both recreational play and organized programs
  • Space for casual drop‑in use, family play, and community‑run activities

These improvements have created a vibrant hub for racquet sports, offering residents and visitors more opportunities to stay active and enjoy outdoor recreation throughout the year.

Outdoor Ice / Roll Hockey Rink

A newly constructed outdoor rink provides a versatile, year‑round recreation space for the community.

During the winter months (weather permitting), the rink is ideal for:

  • Casual family skating
  • Pickup hockey games
  • Shinny for all ages
  • Community skate days or themed skate nights

In the warmer seasons, the surface transitions into a roll hockey and multi‑sport area suitable for:

  • Roll hockey and ball hockey
  • Skating and scooter practice
  • Fitness activities such as agility drills or group warm‑ups
  • Youth programs and skill‑building sessions
  • Informal games like tag, obstacle courses, or relay races

This flexible space encourages active play, skill development, and community connection throughout the entire year.

Park and Accessible Swing

A community park is located on-site, featuring an accessible swing designed for caregivers and children to swing together, supporting inclusive play for families of all abilities. For more information, please visit the Augusta Township Parks Page.
