BY—LAW NO. 1306
A BY-LAW TO PROHIBIT THE DISCHARGE OF GUNS OR OTHER FIREARMS,
AIR GUNS AND SPRING GUNS OR ANY CLASS OR TYPE THEREOF WITHIN
CERTAIN AREAS OF THE TOWNSHIP OF AUGUSTA.
WHEREAS it is desirable in the interest of public safety within
the Township of Augusta to prohibit the discharge of guns or other
firearms, air guns and spring guns within that part of the Township
of Augusta as hereinafter described;
AND WHEREAS Section 379 (1) paragraph 29 of The Municipal Act,
_ R. S. O. l96O Chapter 249 provides that By-Laws may be passed by
the Councils of Municipalities for such purposes;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Township of
Augusta enacts as follows:
1. Pursuant to Section 379 (1) Paragraph 29 of the
Municipal Act R. S. O. l960, Chapter 249, no person shall discharge
at any time a gun or other firearm, air—gun, spring-gun or any class
or type thereof within that part of the Township of Augusta more
particularly defined as follows:
All that part of the Township of Augusta bounded on the north by
the southerly limit of Provincial Highway 401, on the south by the
St. Lawrence River, on the east by the easterly boundary of the
Township of Augusta, and on the west by the dividing line between
Lots eight and nine.
2. Any person contravening the provisions of this
By-Law shall be subject to a penalty on conviction thereof, of not
less than ten dollars and not more than three hundred dollars for
each offence exclusive of costs, and all such penalties shall be
recoverable under the Ontario Summary Convictions Act.
