The Municipal Act grants Council the authority to pass certain By-Laws to govern affairs of the municipality. A By-Law is the written voice of Council and addresses issues and concerns of the local community.
The Council of the Township of Augusta appoints By-Law Enforcement Officer(s) with the authority to enforce By-Laws passed in the Township as per By-Laws 3680-2024, 3526-2021, 3680-2024 and 3676-2024.
Augusta Township joined forces with the Town of Prescott and has hired someone to look after By-Law issues for both municipalities. As of January 29, 2024, Daniel Barnett is our By-Law Enforcement Officer and Fire Chief Rob Bowman is the Manager of By-Law Enforcement.
By-Law Enforcement Officer(s) respond to complaints lodged by residents of the Township and investigate any incidents in order to determine if a violation has taken place. If a violation is noted, the Enforcement Officer follows the procedure established in relation to that particular By-Law in order to rectify the situation.
If you have By-Law related questions or complaints, you can reach Daniel Barnett via email or by phone 613-925-2815 ex. 6205.
