The Municipal Act grants Council the authority to pass certain By-Laws to govern affairs of the municipality. A By-Law is the written voice of Council and addresses issues and concerns of the local community.
The Council of the Township of Augusta appoints By-Law Enforcement Officer(s) with the authority to enforce By-Laws passed in the Township as per By-Law 3526-2021.
Augusta Township joined forces with the Town of Prescott and had hired someone to look after By-Law issues for both municipalities. This person has since left the municipalities as of November 13, 2023. Manager of By-Law Rob Bowman will be handling all By-Law Enforcement issues until a replacement can be found.
The By-Law Enforcement Officer responds to complaints lodged by residents of the Township and investigates any incidents in order to determine if a violation has taken place. If a violation is noted, the Enforcement Officer follows the procedure established in relation to that particular By-Law in order to rectify the situation.
If you have By-Law related questions or complaints, you can reach Rob Bowman via email or by phone 613-925-4231 ex. 201.
