What Do Your Taxes Pay For?

Property taxation is the primary way that municipalities raise funds to provide services.  In Ontario, property taxation is regulated through the Municipal Act, 2001 and supporting regulations.

In addition to collecting taxes to support municipal services, Augusta Township also collects taxes on behalf of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville (rates set by the County) and for the school boards (rates set by the Province).

Here are just some of the things your township taxes pay for:

  • Animal Control (dog catcher, rehoming services, veterinary services etc.)
