Adopt a Road/Park Pilot Program
The Township is considering starting an Adopt a Road/Park program for the municipality. This is a public service program to help enhance local litter collection. The program offers a way for environmentally conscious citizens, community groups and businesses to contribute to a cleaner and more beautiful township.
How it would work:
Volunteers - businesses, families, informal groups, formal organizations such as community or school groups or two or more, may adopt a section of a road/park. They would commit to keeping it clean for a three year period (2 cleanups a year, usually once in the spring and once in the fall). After the initial three year period, agreements can be renewed on an annual basis or dissolved. The Township would provides safety equipment and after two clean ups (the first year), the Township will post signage at either end of the adopted portion of the road or at the park that will identify the group's participation in the program.
Council would like to know what you think about having this program in Augusta Township. Would you like to see it implemented? Would you be willing to participate?

Yes, this is always a good program. We’ve lived in various places across the country where this is effective. It’s an excellent group volunteer project, and a great way for students to build volunteer hours as well.

You ask this right after announcing a 7 percent increase in our taxes. Was this increase during some tough times in this country not supporting thus? Canadians are fighting to keep homes afford groceries and bills at the present time only to have the government raise taxes and then the community we call home do the same .... and then you want us to contribute more? How about offering your community more instead.
