IT WAS TIME, UNFORTUNATELY
Back in 2020, Augusta Township retained a consulting firm to review the structure of the old Masonic Hall in North Augusta. At that time they reported rehabilitation work was needed in excess of $750,000 that would need to be undertaken to make the building safe for public occupancy. This did not include any required interior and accessibility improvements.
It was recommended in 2023 that the building be demolished. Working with the North Augusta Recreation Committee, several items were removed from the structure including stain glass windows and the front door which were provided to community groups that would value the significance of these items.
Once the site has been cleaned up, the Township and the North Augusta Recreation Committee will work together to develop a site plan on the next steps for this property to further develop recreation in North Augusta.
